We are pleased to share our early-bird analysis of 2023 SFCR returns for UK motor insurers. This study provides an analysis of the size, performance and solvency position of the largest UK motor insurers in 2023 as disclosed in their regulatory returns.
2023 proved to be another very challenging year for UK motor insurers. Although rate increases started to come through late in the year, the jury is out on whether this will prove to have been too late for some firms, and whether the rate increases achieved will be sufficient to return the market to profitability in 2024.
We hope to update this analysis in the coming months for the remainder of the market whose SFCRs were released at a later date.
